Scientific name: Acacia mearnsii

Common Name: Black Wattle

Distribution: Tasmania, Victoria, NSW, SA.

General Information: Tree to approximately 10 metres. Flowers November-December, yellow racemes of pale yellow globular spheres, leaves bipinnate, dark green with 12-20 pairs of pinnae on each leaflet. Seed pods are brown, oblong and numerous on the tree - pods constricted between seeds, two nectar secretion glands (nectary), between the pinnae.
