Common Name: Red-flowering Gum

Distribution: Native to south-east Perth region of Western Australia, however widely cultivated. Specimen featured was photographed in Tasmania in April.

General Information:

Leaves: Adult leaves alternate, ovate to broad lanceolate, discolourous, dull to slightly glossy, reticulation very dense, intramarginal vein present and close to leaf margin, oil glands obsure, absent island.

Bark: Rough to small branches, fibrous

Fruit: Urn-shaped, disc vertically descending, valves 3 or 4.


Inflorescences: terminal, peduncles 1.5–3.2 cm long; buds 7, without scar. Flowers bright red, pink or orange during Jan, - May and September.
