Eucalyptus argophloia Blakely, Key Eucalypts 256 (1934).

Family: Myrtaceae, Genus: Eucalyptus Subgenus: Symphyomyrtus, Section: Adnataria, Series: Submelliodorae

Common Name: Chinchilla white gum, Burncluith gum, Queensland western white gum

Distribution: Vulnerable species know in the wild only from a small area north-east Chinchilla, widely planted in the Darling Downs Queensland.

General Information: Timber hard and resistant to decay.

Leaves: Side veins at an angle of >45 degrees to the midrib, moderate to densly reticulated with island oil glands, intramarginal vein distant from the margin.

Bark: Smooth, grey to light rusty grey, over yellow or white.

Fruit: Hemispherical to cupular, valves 4,5,6, disc decended vertically, pedicellate

Inflorescences: Auxillary and unbranching, 7 buds per umbel, globular, no scar, operculum hemispherical. Flowers white, flowering May - August, this specimen in May, Brisbane.
