Eucalyptus coccifera Hook. f.

Family: Myrtaceae, Subfamily: Myrtoideae, Tribe: Eucalypteae, Genus: Eucalyptus, Subgenus: Eucalyptus, Section: Aromatica

Common Name: Tasmanian Snow Gum or Snow Peppermint

Distribution: Endemic in high altitude regions of Tasmania, Mt Wellington and central highlands eg: Cradle Mountain.

General Information: Shrub or small to medium sized tree.

Bark: smooth, shredding in strips to reveal yellow, pink patterned bark underneath.

Adult leaves: alternating, elliptic to lanceolate, with a similar shade of bluish grey/green on each side of leaves.

Inflorescences: are auxillary, unbranched, obovoid buds, glaucous, warty, 3, 7, 9 per umbel, flowers are usually white, & flowering period is between Nov-Feb.

Fruit: obconical or hemispherical, glaucous with a level disc.
