Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden

Family: Myrtaceae, Subfamily: Myrtoidaea, Tribe: Eucalypteae

Genus: Eucalyptus, Subgenus: Symphyomyrtus, Section: Latoangulatae Series:Transversae

Common Name: Flooded Gum, Rose Gum

Distribution: north QLD to SE QLD coastal ranges to Newcastle NSW.

General Information:

Bark: Smooth with rough area at base of tree, thin, flaking and fibrous.

Leaves: Adult leaves alternating, lanceolate, discolourous, glossy, penniveined with dense reticulation, obscure island oil glands.

Inflorescences: auxillary and unbranched, 7-11 flowered. Peduncles (stalk of inflorescence), flattened. Buds sessile (without stalk), or with very short stalk. Pyriform buds up to with scar. Operculum conical or slightly beaked.

Flowers: White, during April to August.

Fruit: Shortly pedicellate or sessile, obconical to cuplular, valves 4 or 5, exserted.
