Eucalyptus tereticornis subsp. tereticornisFamily: Myrtaceae, Subfamily: Myrtoideae, Tribe: Eucalypteae, Genus: Eucalyptus, Subgenus: Symphyomyrtus, Section: Exsertaria, Series: Erythroxylon, Common Name: Forest red gum, Blue gum, Red irongum Distribution: East coast of Australia to NSW and adjacent inlands. General Information: Medium sized to tall tree. Bark decorticating over the whole trunk in large plates or flakes to leave a smooth or granular, mottled surface of white, grey, dark grey and bluish grey. Adult leaves lanceolate, concolorous, reticulation moderate to dense, island oil glands. Flowering period April to October, flowers white, rarely pink, inflorescence auxillary, unbranched, 7-11 flowered. Buds elongated, scar present, operculum horn-shaped, widening at base. Fruit hemispherical, disc broad, ascending, valves 4 or 5, strongly exserted.
