Eucalyptus viminalis

Eucalyptus viminalis Labill.

Family: Myrtaceae, Subfamily: Myrtoideae, Tribe: Eucalypteae, Genus: Eucalyptus, subgenus: Symphyomyrtus, Section: Maidenaria

Common Name: Manna Gum

Distribution: NSW, VIC, Mt Lofty Range SA, eastern two-thirds of TAS.

General Information: Medium sized to very tall tree, bark mostly smooth, shedding to ground level in long ribbons, smooth grey, yellowish or white, or with grey rough bark to less than half the trunk. Long ribbons of partly shed bark often retained in the tree crown.

Adult leaves alternating, lanceolate to narrow lanceolate, concolorous, glossy, reticulation dense, island oil glands.

Flowers: 3 flowered, buds ovoid, scar, operculum pointed-hemispherical or conical. Flowers white, flowering during November to May.

Fruits: cupular or hemispherical, valves 3 or 4, exserted.
