Scientific name: Lysurus mokusin

Common Name: The Lantern Stinkhorn

Distribution: Grows singulary or in small groups on leaf litter, in NSW, QLD and VIC

Fruiting period: Fruiting body is 6 - 15 cm high, consisting of a stalk that forms an apex and into 4-6 arms. The arms are 0.8 - 3cm long and bowed to form a lantern shaped structure. The stalk is 0.5-2cm thick and like the apex, is buttressed down the sides.

General Information: Saprobic, surviving by decomposing of dead or decaying organic material. Egg stage is edible and considered a delicacy in China.
