Family: PHALLACEAEScientific name: Phallus multicolor Common Name: Crinoline Fungus Distribution: Widespread and common in QLD, NSW, VIC in sandy tropical Eucalypt woodland, forests. General Information: A pink to orange cylindrical stem (10-20cm x 1-2 cm), smooth, spongy, dry and hollow. Cap 2-4 cm x 2-3 cm, conical, orange perforate at apex, forming a network on the surface and covered by olive-brown spore slime. Indusium pink to orange, mesh-like sheet surrounding stem. Immature fruiting body is a pink tinged gelatinous 'egg' (see below) 1-3 cm in diametre.
